ALAN s COMMENT: More than one guitarist has substituted the ending
from Bach s keyboard version. It seems more convincing on guitar:

In fact, all movements of this sonata end on major chords. The only major
weakness of the violin version is a failure to clarify this release by
filling them out.

"NOTE: The song sounds awfully weird when ended like this. It s meant
to lead into the following movement of the sonata, the Fuga, for which
it serves well. But if played standing alone, you might want to
substitute this ending, or improvise your own:"
